Withdrawing
AEDs after epilepsy surgery: is it safe?
Epilepsy
surgery can be successful in carefully
selected people, but should these individuals
then come off their anti-epileptic drug(s)?
Investigators in Germany have been exploring
this question.

Petition
against the generic substitution of
AEDs
From January
2010, the Department of Health will
be implementing new dispensing regulations
throughout the UK, in an attempt to
reduce spending. Pharmacists will be
expected to replace the brand of anti-epileptic
drug (AED) named on a prescription with
a generic equivalent, which in some
cases may not be as effective in controlling
an individual's seizures. We find it
very worrying that thousands of people
with epilepsy will suddenly have their
medication altered in this way, and
invite you to sign an ePetition against
this new legislation.
