How can exposure to anti-epileptic drugs
in the womb affect mental functioning
in childhood?
If a woman becomes pregnant whilst taking
anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs), there are

must be considered. Researchers in the
UK and US have been looking at how exposure
to AEDs in the womb can affect mental
processing in the early years of life.
Their interim results have now been
published.

limits their use considerably. Scientists
in America have developed a technique
that could potentially overcome this
problem.
