An investment in epilepsy research has been announced by Supernus Pharmaceuticals. The company intends to use the money raised from a pair of sales in order to fund the projects. It earned $15 million (£9.66 million) through the issuance of venture debt and a further $27 million via the sale of its TCD Royalty Subsidiary. President and chief executive officer of the organisation Jack Khattar stated two epilepsy product candidates into New Drug Application stage, while two other product candidates in the attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) area have moved into Phase II. "Supernus has developed a broad and diversified portfolio of product candidates that provides us with multiple opportunities to achieve our goal of becoming a leading CNS specialty pharmaceutical company," he said. The organisation claims to be focusing on areas where there is an unmet medical need, for instance ADHD and depression by using known drug compounds with established mechanisms of action.
