In spite of the thousands of words
printed each day and the hours of
TV and radio that are broadcast, epilepsy
is hardly featured at all. There are
approximately 450,000 people in the
UK with epilepsy and their story should
be told if we are to make the general
public aware of just how widespread
epilepsy is and the devastating effect
it can have on a person's life.
Would you be prepared to share
your story? The research we fund
is often highly technical, so we really
need 'human interest' stories to grab
the attention of the media. It would
help particularly if you've had experiences
we could tie into research developments
or the need for more research, such
as how your treatment has worked or
not worked.
Whilst we can't guarantee to use every
story, each one would be another valuable
aid to us in raising more funds for
urgently needed research into the
causes and treatment of epilepsy.
If you're from the UK and are willing
to share your experience of how epilepsy
has changed your life, please fill
in the form below. We'll contact anyone
whose story we'd like to use to discuss
how we might be able to use the information
you give us - and we promise we won't
contact the media without your consent.
For readers outside this country,
we're sorry but we can only use stories
from UK residents.
