Researchers
and Scientists - Regional research networks
Epilepsy Research UK is initiating the set-up
of regional networks of people involved
with epilepsy research around the UK.
They are intended to provide fairly
informal forums enabling researchers
to make new contacts outside their usual
sphere of acquaintances and research
colleagues, and start new research collaborations.
Anyone professionally involved in
epilepsy research is welcome at the
meetings, from EEG technicians and
nurses to laboratory scientists. Having
local meetings cuts travel costs and
time; we hope this will allow people
to attend who would not normally go
to the big national or international
meetings.
So far networks have been set up
in Scotland and the West Midlands
& Wales (in collaboration with
WERN).
The Scottish Epilepsy Group's fourth
annual research meeting is in Dundee
on 23 February 2007. The West Midlands
& Wales network met on 29 September
2006 in the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.
Futher meetings are planned. Contact
us for more information.
If
you want a network in your region,
please contact us.
Epilepsy Research UK is looking to collaborate
with epilepsy professionals throughout
the UK to set up further networks,
for example in the North West (e.g.
covering Lancashire, Manchester and
Merseyside) and South West (covering
Southampton, Bath, Bristol, and Exeter).
Funds are available to cover some
costs of setting up a research day,
including speakers' expenses. Epilepsy Research UK will also advertise the
network via its Research
Register, and can provide advice.
This is your opportunity to initiate
a network in epilepsy research in
your area!
