Jason Biriny died on the 16th July, 2008 from
an epileptic seizure. He was 29 years old.
He leaves behind his partner Katy Love, mum
Carole, step dad Carl and sister Michelle.
Katy has decided to set up a memorial fund
for Jason as a way of helping other families
who are affected by epilepsy, and raising
general awareness about epilepsy and how
serious it can be.
"Jason was so full of life and enjoyed
it to the full no matter what obstacles
may be thrown in the way. He had a wicked
sense of humour and had a bright outlook
on everything. He loved going out with friends
whether it be to the cinema, a restaurant,
clubbing or the theatre, and was extremely
interested in film, music and football.
(Jason supported Burnley, his birth town,
and could always been found on a match day
checking the results!)
He worked front of house at a hotel in
the village where he lived in Dorset, and
was a popular member of staff, as well as
a popular member of the community. He quite
simply was a ray of light and he is and
always will be missed by all those who knew
him."
Katy Love, September 2008
Both Katy and Jason's family hope that,
in time, research will develop enough to
prevent epilepsy from taking any more lives,
and that something positive may come from
this tragedy.

Epilepsy Research UK would like to thank
the Katy for her involvement with us. Our
Memorial Funds play an essential part in
funding the charity's's research. This year, they are supporting Professor
Matthew
Walker's project looking at Potassium
Channels in Epilepsy, which will increase
our understanding of the effect of epilepsy
on the brain, and may potentially open up
an exciting new avenue for epilepsy treatment.
