Title Bullet Support us - Overseas challenges

If you have ever wanted to do an exhilarating challenge for charity here is your chance. We are looking for adventurous volunteers to take part in a series of incredible expeditions that take in some of the world's most breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.

All of our overseas challenges are organised through Discover Adventure (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) 5636), and you can find all of the trips listed on their website by entering the appropriate country into their search tool.

If you have any trouble downloading the links to the itinerary information below (pdf format), do contact Jo and she will send you the details.

Ho Chi Minh to Angkor Wat Cycle
Cycle through beautiful rural landscapes dotted with ruins of ancient civilisations and small towns where Buddhist temples nestle amongst graceful French colonial buildings and ramshackle houses.

Our challenge takes us from Vietnamese Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, through the rice-paddies and waterways of the beautiful Mekong Delta into Cambodia. We pedal on through this friendly country towards one of the most impressive sights in Southeast Asia, the Royal Temples of Angkor Wat.

We encounter some rolling hills, but the main challenge lies in the long, hot dusty days in the saddle as we cycle through these remote areas. Fascinating insights into the region's cultures, ancient and modern, are a real highlight of this challenge.

Tour dates: 13-24 February 2010; 09-20 October 2010

London to Paris Cycle Ride
Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe. Passing through picturesque Kent countryside, we cross the Channel and continue through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, passing the famous battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt. With long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, our finishing point, will evoke a real sense of achievement.

Our last day in Paris allows us to explore the streets of Paris and soak up the romantic atmosphere of this majestic city!

Tour dates: 5-9 May 2010; 16-20 June 2010; 28 July - 1 August 2010*; 1-5 Sep 2009

In the footsteps of Genghis Khan
Mongolia stirs up visions of wide open landscapes, wild horses galloping across the steppes and a nomadic life little changed since the times of Genghis Khan.

We ride sturdy Mongolian horses for 200km through the remote valleys of the Khangai mountains of central Mongolia, witnessing the traditional herding lifestyle of the Khalkh Mongols. We follow tracks through valleys and mountains, crossing rivers and passing round felt gers before finishing our journey at Kharkhorin, the historic centre of Genghis Khan's Mongol Empire. This is a rare opportunity to experience the beautiful, untouristed landscapes of the 'land of blue sky'.

Tour dates: 4-14 June 2010.

Andean Trails to Machu Picchu
From high remote mountain trails to that first sight of the legendary Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, the Lares trek is an alternative to the classic Inca Trail trek.

This beautiful route takes you through stunning and diverse landscapes, from snow capped mountains to crystal clear lakes and green valleys. This is a challenging trek on steep trails climbing to the high Wakawasi mountain pass of 4400m, with breathtaking views of snow capped Andean peaks.

There is plenty of time built in to acclimatise to the altitude in Cuzco and on the first day's trek. Explore traditional mountain villages and towns en-route, and there is time at the end to explore the many attractions and markets of Cuzco, capital of the Inca Empire.

Tour dates: 1-10 May 2010; 14-23 August 2010; 11-20 September 2010; 6-15 November 2010

Coast to Coast Rainforest Trek
Costa Rica has a huge variety of landscapes, climates and environments. It is home to five per cent of the planet's biodiversity. Everything from palm tree-lined tropical beaches to smoking volcanoes; cloud forest, rainforest and mangrove swamp awaits us in Costa Rica!

Our challenging trek will take us from the slopes of Irazu, the highest volcano in Costa Rica at 3432m through plantations of coffee, forests of oak, cloud forest and dense tropical rainforest. We finish on a beautiful tropical beach.

This is a challenging trek through remote and rarely visited regions. The terrain is tough with some extremely hard climbs. You will not forget Costa Rica in a hurry!

Tour dates: 20 November-1 December 2010; 12-23 February 2011; 19-30 November 2011
