If you have ever wanted to do an exhilarating
challenge for charity here is your chance.
We are looking for adventurous volunteers
to take part in a series of incredible open
challenge expeditions that take in some of
the world's most breathtakingly beautiful
landscapes.
Organised as an open challenge by Charity
Challenge, This ten-day cycling expedition
begins in the Cuban capital of Havana and
ends by the Carribean Sea in Trinidad some
350kms later. Most of the cars on the road
are large American Chevys and Buicks from
before the revolution, and buildings have
remained untouched for more than half a century.
You can't help but be touched by the friendliness
and pride that the Cubans feel for their country.
Outside of Havana, there are very few vehicles
on the road and as Cuba has a strong biking
culture, you will fit right in. You will
pass villages separated by colourful fruit
orchards, sugar plantations and tree-lined
avenues. You will also see the monument
to Che Guevera as you pass through Santa
Clara.
You will cycle through Cienfuegos, which sits in a bay facing the Caribbean Sea and has attracted pirates through the ages, and continue to the magnificent Sierra del Escambray before finally reaching Trinidad.
You can spend your final evening dining and salsa dancing before returning to Havana.
You can read the full itinerary here
and book online.
If you choose the fundraising option, you must have the fundraising target with ERUK 8 weeks before departure. If you chose the self funding option, there is no minimum sponsorship target for you to reach, and every penny you raise goes towards Epilepsy Research UK.
By competing for Epilepsy Research UK you
will be helping to fund ground-breaking
research in the UK that will help change
the future for people with epilepsy. Every
project we fund is rigorously assessed by
a panel of experts to ensure it has the
potential to advance our understanding of
the condition and improvements in the treatment
of those with epilepsy.
There is no known cure for epilepsy
Over 30% of people with epilepsy have
seizures that do not respond to drug treatment
In over 60% of cases there is no known
cause
Every year 1,000 people die as a result
of epilepsy
You can help!
Every pound raised by you will increase
the amount of research we can fund.
We are here to support you every step of the way, and each runner will receive a fundraising pack full of ideas, sponsor forms and a personalised Epilepsy Research UK running vest for the race day. We also have fundraising materials available for all your needs, such as drinks mats, banner tape, balloons, pens, ribbon badges - you'll get a form to order what you need in your fundraising pack!
