In March 2012 Simon Lambracos embarked on a fantastic adventure to theHimalayasto raise money for Epilepsy ResearchUK.
Simon writes: “I chose to support ERUK as my older brother has epilepsy and having experienced the difficulties he endured as a result of the condition, I was motivated to support the research and development of treatment in this field.
It was quite a long trek and challenging towards the end due to altitude but ultimately very satisfying. We trekked from 2800m at Lukla up to 5359m at Everest Base Camp and back in two weeks. I was part of a group of 21 people, and we all reached Base Camp despite some people suffering more from altitude sickness than others, all motivated by each other and the stories of distinguished climbers and sherpas!
The scenery was stunning and we had several views of Mount Everest summit along the way. I would wholeheartedly recommend this trip to anyone interested as it was truly an experience of a lifetime and I am delighted to have raised £2,676.25 for Epilepsy Research UK.”
Simon’s Everest Base Camp Trek was organised by Discover Adventure who offer a wide range of fundraising challenges open to individual supporters of any charity.
